Welcome!
This has been a project in the making for some time.
I wanted to make something similar to an updated "How to get On" blog. I never knew the creator of this blog but they helped me win my first long term disability claim. I am grateful for their experience.
I feel drawn to give back in my own way some of the wisdom I have learned through my own disability application experience.
This blog is designed to have no paywall. However, some content (mostly related to medical advocacy) will be paid content. If you can donate, it will help me and others. If you want to contribute as an author, that may help readership.
Some of these thoughts are from my head, but I credit many thoughts to disabled community wisdom, and for that reason I plan to send proceeds from subscriptions toward but not limited to:
Author 1's stretch goal - $10,000 for more secure housing/living expenses while awaiting SSDI decision, vet debt, credit card debt, allergy friendly food and medications
B2 $4000 disabled community member's long covid recovery and vet expenses
B3 ~$50,000 community member's extensive dental expenses
B4 community member's ongoing medical and housing related expenses
B5 community member's ongoing housing expenses fighting displacement
B6 community member's ongoing fight against housing displacement
V1 $2000 disabled community member's grief, post traumatic event and vet related expenses
M1 disability and caregiving related expenses
P1 ongoing disability and housing expenses
X1 - ongoing expenses fighting displacement
X2 - $5000+ ongoing expenses
X3 - ongoing medical supplies
X4 - ongoing living expenses
X5 - ongoing living expenses
Can you imagine what kind of stability we could create with 10k, 50k, 100?
Let's fight displacement with our wisdom, with mutual aid, love and care.
